What is the Etsy fee calculator?
Etsy is a global marketplace for handmade goods, prints and digital printables. But the price the buyer pays is not what lands in your account: several fees are deducted from every sale. This tool calculates each fee in detail and shows your net profit, profit margin and the lowest price you can charge without losing money.
Etsy fees included
- Listing fee: a fixed amount per listing, renewed with each sale. Default: $0.20.
- Transaction fee: a percentage of the item price plus shipping. Default: 6.5%.
- Payment processing: a percentage plus a fixed amount per order, depending on your bank’s country. Default: 3% + 0.25.
- Offsite Ads: charged only when an order comes from an ad Etsy runs outside the marketplace — 15% or 12% depending on your yearly sales.
- Currency conversion: 2.5% when your listing currency differs from your bank currency.
All rates are editable in “Fee settings” because Etsy updates its fees from time to time and some fees vary by country, including regulatory fees in certain regions. Always check Etsy’s official fee page for your country.
How to use it
- Selling digital files such as printable coloring books or planners? Tick Digital product to hide shipping fields.
- Enter the item price, quantity and any shipping charged to the buyer.
- Enter your costs: materials, printing, packaging and actual shipping.
- Review fee settings and select Offsite Ads if the order came from one.
- Read the results, the fee breakdown and the break-even price.
Example: a digital printable
A $5 digital coloring book with no shipping and no per-copy cost: listing fee 0.20, transaction fee about 0.33, payment processing about 0.40. Total fees are roughly 0.93 and net profit about 4.07 — a margin above 80%. If the order came through 15% Offsite Ads, another 0.75 is deducted. This is why very low prices let fixed fees eat a big share of profit.
Tips to earn more on Etsy
- Bundle several files into one higher-priced listing so fixed fees are spread over more value.
- Price shipping thoughtfully — transaction fees apply to shipping too.
