Convert between Hijri and Gregorian dates

You may need the Gregorian equivalent of a Hijri date — or the reverse — for official forms, religious occasions, document expiry dates or a birth date written in Hijri. This tool shows today in both calendars and converts any date instantly in both directions.

How to use it

  1. Gregorian → Hijri: pick a Gregorian date to see the Hijri equivalent and weekday.
  2. Hijri → Gregorian: enter the Hijri day, month and year to get the full Gregorian date.
  3. Click “Copy” to copy the result.

What is the Umm al-Qura calendar?

The Hijri calendar is lunar: months have 29 or 30 days, so the year is about 11 days shorter than the Gregorian year. Umm al-Qura is a pre-calculated astronomical calendar officially used in Saudi Arabia, available in your browser. Some countries rely on moon sighting, so the actual date may differ by one day, especially at the start of Ramadan, Shawwal and Dhu al-Hijjah.

Did you know?

Because the Hijri year is about 11 days shorter, Ramadan moves about 11 days earlier each Gregorian year and cycles through every season in roughly 33 years. See your age in both calendars with our Age Calculator.
